About GridLoad

GridLoad tells you at a glance whether now is a good time to run household appliances like the washing machine, dishwasher or EV charger. It reads your tariff's dynamic electricity price, or the day-ahead market price, and shows one colour:

Green, good time: electricity is cheap, run your appliances now.

Orange, fair time: average price, only run what you need.

Red, bad time: electricity is expensive, wait if you can.

The price now is compared with the next 24 hours, so red means a cheaper time is coming, and the app shows when the next good time starts. A price curve shows those prices in their colours and how long the green lasts. Cheap times are when the grid has the most to spare, for example at midday when solar power peaks. Shifting load to those times lowers your bill and helps the grid. Regions: in Switzerland the price comes from your local utility's dynamic tariff: Central Switzerland (CKW), Canton of Zurich (EKZ), Einsiedeln (EKZ Einsiedeln), Fribourg and Neuchâtel (Groupe E), Northwestern Switzerland (Primeo Energie), Olten area (AVAG) and Gretzenbach (ELAG). In Austria, Belgium (Flanders, and Wallonia and Brussels), Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and the Netherlands it's the day-ahead market price (Bundesnetzagentur | SMARD.de, via energy-charts.info, CC BY 4.0); enter your supplier's add-on to see your own price. On a fixed-price tariff the colour doesn't change your bill, but it still shows when the grid has power to spare. whatwatt: with a whatwatt Go smart meter reader on your home Wi-Fi (with its Plus licence, wherever its adapter fits your meter), GridLoad also shows what your home draws right now and what that costs per hour. Peak load: some tariffs also charge for the month's highest 15-minute average (for example CKW's Home dynamic, Flanders, and Austria from 2027). With a whatwatt, GridLoad shows this quarter hour's projected draw against a limit (by defau
